I started this in 2008 and reached a point where, for some reason put it down. It was ALMOST completed, just needed a little bit of backstitching. There is quite a bit of backstitching for this piece.
The original design is called "Butterlies With Cherry Blossoms" by Al Hannen. It was done on 17"x17" Parchment 14-count Aida-Sweigart. I did it on Charles Craft 14 Ct Navy and it changed the look so much that I had to change the name as well
For some of the backstitching you may notice a little sparkle. I wanted to add some "dew" to the look and used Sulky Holoshimmers and Metallics along with the floss while backstitching some parts of the piece. I didn't want to do more than that so that the sparkle wouldn't overwhelm the finished look.
Overall it may have taken three weeks to do, but since I picked it up once in awhile it took me a little over two years. I gave this to a co-worker who swore she could tame my wild red locks as barter. She has since moved on, but at that time she did have it proudly displayed in her livingroom.
